Fish Factory, Creative Centre of Stöðvarfjörður The residency program is self directed, multi-disciplinary and open to most creative directions. The purpose of the program is to provide emerging and established creatives from all fields an opportunity to focus on their work in an environment well equipped for experimentation and the production of artistic output. Residency period: November 2nd – 27th Our Centre is a place to meet with other creative people in a warm collaborative community.
The staff are at work Monday-Friday from 9:00 – 16:00, while residency artists have 24/7 access to the building. We offer a shared studio space for eight artists (95 m2). The studio spaces function as a “home base” for the artists and from there they can work on their creative projects in various facilities and workshops. The Centre has wood-, metal-, ceramic- and print workshops as well as a kitchen, small library, and a concert hall.
Residency artists are provided with accommodation in family-size houses situated in the heart of our small village. Each artist has their own private bedroom and shares a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and washroom with the other artists. Internet access, a washing machine, bed linen, and a towel are provided. We offer the Shared Studio for 160.000 ISK (≈1150€ , 1300$) per residency period (short residency is 120,000 ISK – January and December), with everything above included.
The residency fee must be paid 12 weeks before arrival. Artists take care of their own expenses for transport, meals, and art supplies.

Our Residency Artists stay together in two houses. The houses are located in the heart of our small village and are about 3-4 min walking distance from the Centre. The houses each have a garden, bedrooms, large kitchens, a living room, a bathroom, a washroom, and internet access. Each artist has their own private bedroom and shares other facilities with their housemates. Upon arrival, each artist gets a towel and bed linen.
We also provide toilet paper, products for house cleaning, and washing machine soap. Artists are expected to clean their accommodation during their stay and upon their departure to deliver the accommodation in orderly state.
The Residency is multi-disciplinary and open to most creative directions. The Centre is equipped with wood and metal workshops, a ceramic workshop, a printmaking workshop, a kitchen, a recording studio, and a Concert hall. Our staff is at work from 9:00 16:00 on weekdays, while residency artists have 24/7 access to the building. The staff of the Centre assists residency artists with sourcing materials and other things that they might need during their stay.
The staff also gives a basic introduction to workshops and facilities, enabling artists to execute their work. Please note that we do not offer a service of a workshop technician that produces artworks for artists. Artists are fully responsible for the execution of their projects.
