In the organiser's words

What the official page says.

Quoted from titanik.fi and checked on 31 August 2026. This is the organiser's description, reproduced as captured. It has not been through the evidence checks that produced the figures above.

The Titanik A.i.R. open call and programme focus Continuing the approach initiated last year, in 2027, the Titanik A.i.R. program will host sound artists/collectives from diverse geopolitical backgrounds with a specific thematic focus on the sonic exploration of new – reciprocal– ways of living, thinking and working together. We want to learn from sound as a material phenomenon; inherently connective and connected to listening.

We are interested in sound as a space of collectivity and community building. We are looking for sonic practices that function as a space-making tool to create mutually challenging and enriching conversations and capacious social spaces for critical thinking. This year, the residents also have the possibility to utilize the newly established Titanik Radio and its broadcasting possibilities as a channel during their residency period.

Application period for open call: August 26th – September 20th 2026 Via this open call Titanik A.i.R. offers two 2-month residency slots: (August-September) and (October-November) 2027 The other residency periods for 2027 will be organized via additional open calls launched mutually with our partners later this year. Titanik artist-in-residence programme is happy to host process-based and research-based residencies for artists who work with sonic practices or at the intersections of sound and other mediums and are looking for an opportunity to live and work in Turku, Finland.

The residency programme aims to provide time and space for artists to focus on their work without the pressure of presenting a final production. However, if the artist wishes to share their work-in-progress in the format of a workshop, an open studio, a performance, a screening, or a talk amongst other forms, we are happy to help organise it. What Titanik offers: For the duration of the residency, an artist or a duo is hosted in the working studio (20m2) adjoining the contemporary art space Titanik and its library, located in the city centre of Turku.

Residents are welcome to use Titanik’s audiovisual equipment during their stay (availability depends on Titanik’s exhibition programme). The residents are also provided free accommodation in a fully equipped 25m2 studio apartment close to the city center, within walking distance from Titanik. The apartment is suitable for one person or a couple. Unfortunately, the apartment is not wheelchair accessible. The residency programme is currently self-financed and during their stay, the artists fund their own travel as well as living and working expenses, including food, transportation, and materials.

The artist must take care of the necessary insurances and cover the costs of any illness. Titanik will gladly provide invitation and reference letters for the selected applicants and additionally is attempting to raise the funding to offer artist fees and travel support for the selected artist/collectives. To apply, send us an application that includes: – Motivation letter (up to one page) describing your residency work plan, your connection to our theme and why you wish to stay with Titanik in Turku.

– preferred slot for the residency: (Aug-Sep) / (Oct-Nov) – a link to a sample of recent work (e.g. website/online portfolio/Vimeo/soundcloud) – CV (max. 2 pages) Do let us know if there is anything that we might work on to make your stay in Turku more accessible. Send your application via This Form https://forms.gle/8gEmgJJ6DUGnWi6d8 by 20.09.2026 23:59 (GMT +3). Applications that do not follow the instructions will not be considered.

The result will be communicated to all applicants by Monday October 12th. We accept applications only in English. For more information, please, contact Farbod Fakharzadeh at director@arte.fi. Applications are reviewed by a jury consisting of Arte’s board: Anne Järvi, Micol Curatolo, Via Ruuska, Ruby Louise Rose, Shubhangi Singh with the help of Arte’s director Farbod Fakharzadeh and a guest jury member from the field.
