In the organiser's words

What the official page says.

Quoted from wecheartresidency.ovh and checked on 31 August 2026. This is the organiser's description, reproduced as captured. It has not been through the evidence checks that produced the figures above.

We-Che Art Residency is an artist run project, founded and designed by artists for artists. Located in the Chubut region of Patagonia Argentina, it is indeed the most austral Art Residency. We have launched this year our general AIR program. We offer a tranquil workspace in an inspiring environment, a place to connect with other artists and engage with Patagonia as a complex natural, historical, and cultural ecosystem, fostering a respectful relationship between art and nature.

As we have a special love for books, and a long experience as graphic designers, artists and author in editing and making books of any kind, at any diffusion scale, we decided to dedicate an AIR program exclusively to book projects. This program is an half self directed half guided residency with a punctual individual mentorship, when needed, to support each project and achieve each-one’s book in a 1 month residency from A to Z. At every stage of your work in progress, we are here to support you and help you complete it while enjoying your stay.

It is an intensive special 1 month format as an opportunity to dedicate time and space to concrete this book project you continuously set appart… What if you give a breath to your creativity and get some fresh air from the mountains while working just for you?

Duration

The minimal duration is 1 month, with possibility to add extra weeks, depending on the project, specially for artists and authors wanting to combine art production/creation and a book project. Residency should start and end within the spring season. 2 last places left : 1 in September and 1 in December.

Accommodation

The We-Che Artist Residency can host a maximum of 3 (up to 4) artists simultaneously. All residents will stay in private confortable accommodations with a private bathroom and a private desk for those moments when you need to dive in and stay focus with minimum distraction.

Disciplines & equipment

All creators related to books are welcome, including writers and poets, storytellers, photographers, paper artists and practitioners of small format 2D techniques (illustration, botanical drawings, eco-print, collage and cutting, watercolor, sketching), graphic novel reporter, travel writers, naturalist… who wish to carry out a book project. Our partial mentorship will fit to needs as it is designed to support artists and writers in developing a publishing project.

The program broadly supports all projects moving toward a book format, from handcrafted art books, poetry, and novels, documentary, fiction or non-fiction literary, or print-ready catalog or monographs.

Studio

All residents have access to "el galpón &", a calm yet friendly indoor workspace conducive to teamwork and to the Eclectic Evolutive Library, for inspiration and sharing experiences and constructive exchanges, a kitchen for moments of conviviality. Several outdoor workspace, desks and worktables are available also, under the pine trees or near the river. For hand crafted art books, we can set up the shared work space for it, with a special focus on hand crafting autonomous possibilities (manual tools for special folding, paper and cardboard cutting tools, sewing machine, book-binding press…) and paper art and drawing tool. We continuously create new workspace and add new tools and facilities.

Fees & support

The residency fee for one month is 1600 USD / resident extra week 350 USD. For more ambitious book projects, aiming to a final professional HD printing, if needed, an additional complete professional graphic design and production support may be added with extra cost, (price based on time and on complexity).

Expectations

There are no special expectation toward the artists and writers as for the moment We-Che cannot host workshop, exhibitions or public events.
