Accommodation

Nestled in a 500-year-old Renaissance bottega in the heart of Venice’s historic Jewish Ghetto, La Storta blends rich heritage with contemporary creativity. Its ground-floor exhibition and living space, with a large street-facing vitrine (window) opening directly to the Ghetto, is surrounded by everyday Venetian life with cafés and shops nearby – offering an authentic and dynamic environment for artists to live, work, and exhibit in the cradle of Venetian culture.

The residency welcomes visual artists of all disciplines, writers, and researchers. Residents are encouraged to shape their own experience while engaging with Venice’s art scene and community.

Disciplines & equipment

Inclusive and supportive environment open to all disciplines, plenty of art materials, video projectors and more… available, and if needed two art supply shops nearby.

Studio

La Storta combines a cozy live-in studio with a street-level gallery featuring a large vitrine window onto a lively campo. The gallery welcomes exhibitions, open-studio events, and process-based displays . We have basic art supply with two art supply shops close by, installment tools and two projectors. Light curatorial support is available for exhibitions.We assist with contacts to services, printshops and exhibition attendance.

Artists are granted full flexibility to shape their working hours and presentations. Note: our resident cat, Campari, may grace you with his presence — the residency is therefore not suitable for individuals with cat allergies.

Fees & support

Venezia Contemporanea in partnership with Galleria ScalaMata offering a partially funded residencies for interdisciplinary artists. Due to a last minute cancellation we offer partially funded residency for € 900 for one week. Standard Partially funded Residency Minimum stay is two weeks. A longer stay is depends on availability Venezia Contemporanea covers 50% of €2,400 per week. Artist’s share is 1,200€ per week. Support: Basic art supply / 2 Projectors.

Light curatorial support is available for exhibitions. We assist with contacts to services, printshops and exhibition attendance Not included: Flights, travel fees, Per Diem, and Art supply. We do not receive packages.

Expectations

We value a warm and collaborative atmosphere. Residents are encouraged to focus on their creative work provide feed back to help us improve future programs. Artists retain full ownership and rights to their work.

How to apply

No Deadline! Application for the Partially Covered Residencies is open all year around on a rolling base. Duration: Min. 2 weeks – Max. 6 weeks. A longer stay is possible, VenCon covers one week.
