Open call – apply now for 2027 self-led residency for creatives at The Hide Artist Retreat. Stay in purpose built Live/Work studio in beautiful natural landscape with far reaching views of The Cotswolds. All creatives welcome – Including: visual artists, painters, sculptors, illustrators, designers, photographers, filmmakers, screen and playwrights, novelists, musicians, performance artists, dancers and choreographers, curators and creative thinkers.

Our Live/Work studio is a fully contained, one-level living space – designed for both comfort and productivity. Key features include: adaptable 8x6m (48m²) workspace with work tables, chairs, easels, Butler sink, king-sized bed, kitchenette, ensuite shower room, and outside seating area with garden view. Amenities include: heating, hot water, electricity, WiFi, large southwest-facing windows, north-facing Velux, blackout blinds, bedding, towels, microwave, kettle, toaster, small electric hob, and basic kitchen equipment.

The charming town of Nailsworth is just a short woodland walk or drive from The Hide. It houses several bars, cafes, and shops. The local pub The Old Lodge is up on the common and is great for those seeking local ales and hearty pub fare. The lively town of Stroud is also a 10-minute drive to the North with its famous farmers’ market. Should you wish to venture a bit further, Bath, Bristol Cheltenham and Gloucester are all within driving distance.

Being set in the Cotswolds you will not want for artistic ideas either. This protected region is known for its undulating countryside, stone-built villages and variety of stately homes and manor houses – sure to get the creative juices flowing.

One Month in the The private Live/Work studio. Other opportunities for shorter stays also available.

Accommodation

We offer month – long in the live/work studio and week-long in The Suite within our family home. We also offer alternative accommodation/guest/visitor space in the Shepherds Hut
