Shangyuan Art Museum – Huangshan Studio is located in an abandoned school only 1.3 km away from the Huangshan High Speed Railway Station. The campus is 1,370 square meters, with more than 700 square meters of floor space. The studio can accommodate 10 artists and their partners or spouses at the same time. Each apartment has a bedroom, a living room and a bathroom, and a large shared kitchen. We provide housing free of charge.

Residents are responsible for all personal expenses including food, daily necessities, and household items . Residents are not allowed to use others’ belongings without permission. Shangyuan – Jingdezhen Studio can accommodate 10 artists (family members allowed). Each suite features a bedroom and bathroom (with 3 beds), and there is a shared canteen. The studios are used in cooperation with the Huangyao Museum.

Minimum one month, up-to a year (as long as your visa permits).

Residents will be provided with a private bedroom, bathroom, studio, and shared kitchen (which must be cleaned after every meal). Residents are required to maintain cleanliness in the environment and take care of the property.

Fees & support

Basic utilities such as water, electricity, gas, internet, and usage of household appliances will incur a monthly fee of 1730 Yuan (counted as a full month even if the stay is less than a month). Residents can bring their spouse or family members to share a room, but the cost for additional individuals will be two times as for artists. A deposit of 1,000 yuan is required and must be paid before moving in. The fee for swimming is 200 Yuan per month or 20 Yuan per session.

Expectations

We ask for one donated work per month (if the work is large or complex, then the time can be extended). For painting and other graphic work, minimum 0.5 square meter per month and to be delivered by the end of each month. There is no need to donate work if you participate in teaching or administrative work.
