In the organiser's words

What the official page says.

Quoted from photon.si and checked on 31 August 2026. This is the organiser's description, reproduced as captured. It has not been through the evidence checks that produced the figures above.

Photon Residency Ptuj is an international residency programme for emerging artists working in contemporary photography and related visual practices. The program is closely linked to Different Worlds, the annual open call of the Photon Gallery for young photographers from Central and Eastern Europe and Austria. Selected participants are offered the opportunity to further develop their artistic practice through a residency in Ptuj.

More on the open call: https://photon.si/drugacni-svetovi-2026/?lang=en The residency provides accommodation and studio space, mentoring and curatorial support, portfolio discussions and opportunities for exchange with artists and cultural professionals. Activities also include visits to Photon Gallery in Ljubljana and connections with Photon’s wider regional network. The programme aims to support artistic research and project development, while strengthening professional skills, international mobility and long-term connections within the CEE photography scene.

Duration

From 1 – 3 weeks

Accommodation

Residents stay in a residential house on the residency premises in Ptuj. The house offers two private bedrooms with a shared kitchen and bathroom, as well as common living areas. As the residency hosts a small number of participants, most residents stay in the house on their own, providing privacy and a quiet environment for focused artistic work.

Disciplines & equipment

The residency is intended for photographers and visual artists who use photography as a central medium in their artistic practice, including interdisciplinary and research-based approaches. Residents have access to a dedicated workspace with basic studio equipment suitable for photographic and visual work. Photon provides curatorial and professional assistance through mentoring, individual consultations and portfolio/project discussions.

When required, the Photon team can also assist residents in identifying additional local technical services, equipment rental or production support.

Studio

The studio is private and belongs to the residency.

Fees & support

There are no fees included.

Expectations

The program will be designed subsequently according to the resident’s wishes and the organizer’s current program.

How to apply

Applications for the residency are linked to Photon Gallery’s Different Worlds 2026 – International Competition for Young Photographers from Central and Eastern Europe. https://photon.si/drugacni-svetovi-2026/?lang=en
